what would june do?

{April 20, 2008}   three.

today we went for dim sum with my favorite nephew and his parents and his grandparents (-1). he was so good sitting at the table with all the adults!

jack at the table

he hardly made a peep during the entire meal. of course, that may be due to the fact that he got kissy time with his favorite person in the whole world (that would be me).

i recently learned in my ocular motility class that, and i quote..

“infants generally will look at a toy rather than their mother. young infants avoid looking at a face, or look at the edge of the face. they look more at a stranger than their mother. with age, they then prefer to look at a face and scan the face for salient features such as eyes.”

i find this not to be true for jack, just from what i remember from past experiences and the more careful attention i paid to him today. i think he likes looking at faces and people in general, and he definitely doesn’t care less for his mommy’s face. he’s such a sweetheart.

so i’ve moved on from my games of 2 days past to.. dum dum dum.. lost in blue 3 :P i know, i know, it’s like.. can she play anything else? no. not right now. it’s actually a lot better than its predecessors! less food will fill up the characters more, there’s more people on the island (and they’re not all out to kill you), you can run around all day and not get insanely tired.. yeah. what a great game. i love rpgs.

dumplingsi convinced my mom to let us make dumplings together for dinner. i can’t remember actually having made any by hand since the 3rd grade, but it’s something i always feel like doing. it’s so cheap, too! i didn’t realize.. but we went to shun fat supermarket and picked up all the ingredients (ground pork, shrimp, cabbage, dumpling wrappers) and it came out to under $8. we made 74 dumplings, but we had stuff left over (we ran out of wrappers).

they look yummy, right? :) and they’re probably so much better for us (and cheaper too) than the kind you buy frozen at the market or at restaurants. we could literally taste the healthiness, haha. the ground pork we got was so lean that they tasted slightly dry on the inside, but dipped in hot soy sauce and everything they were just what i wanted. they’re fun to make, too.

i’m just about done studying for my exam tomorrow morning. i read all of the material and i’m not sure it all sunk in, but i’ll do a little reviewing and see how i do. before i do that, though, i’m going to watch an episode of 公主小妹 (romantic princess), a chinese drama i’ve been dying to watch since jom told me angela chang filmed something new. i’m so glad i finally have it!
